What sizes you should keep an eye on? Why?

Saving images for the web can be a pickle. Uploading images that are heavy (original image size up to 5000px width, unoptimized images) will not only create issues with the user experience on your site, but will also affect your SEO (online shop loading speed, bounce rate, ranking, etc). This article will guide you through how you can add files directly on ecommerce platform Shoperb and not only improve your site’s performance but also keep an eye on few simple things.

Using images for your online store

These tips are recommended, retina friendly, sizing options considering that majority of users view your online shop on a device that is either mobile or 13-15 inches average size computer desktop. Also, one really good tip would be, if you want to be more precise how your users view your site and your portfolio, you can check the devices used to access your site through your Google Analytics, and adjust the recommended size to match the required proportion of your average user.

The one you shoot and it is possible your images will be cropped when viewed on web. For product photos, we are recommending using 2048 x 2048 pixels for square product photos in your online store.

Inside Content Images

If you have any inside content images for your blog, stories or other then these following sizes are the best to consider:

Horizontal – max width 1500px, jpeg, saved for web, and optimized

Vertical– max width 1000px, jpeg, saved for web, and optimized

Adding files on Shoperb

Under the Files on the Settings menu you can upload files directly for your online store. You can also upload images when customizing your store but usually it is easier to upload all the needed files to the Files category.

Just click Upload New File and choose photographs from your computer. You can copy the file link from there and see when it was uploaded. If you copy the link and paste to the browser you can see your uploaded photo.
